Strette Di Cocciglia: Um cânion escondido na Toscana
Turquoise-blue water, nearly vertical stone walls, and a landscape that seems to have come from another place.
As Cocciglia Straits, also known as Gole di Cocciglia, are in Val di Lima, in the territory of Bagni di Lucca, in the Province of Lucca.
The Lima River flows through a narrow limestone gorge, creating natural pools of surprisingly clear water and almost surreal landscapes. In some places, vegetation covers the walls, forming a veritable "green roof" over the river.
The region can be explored in different ways, from hiking and moments of contact with nature to activities such as SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), river trekking, and canyoning, carried out on organized routes.
One of the best-known places is the so-called Laguna Blu, where the water takes on an intense blue hue that contrasts with the gray of the rocks and the green of the vegetation.
And perhaps that's precisely what makes the Strette di Cocciglia so interesting: it's not the Tuscany of cypress-covered hills that appears on postcards. It's a wilder, more mountainous and surprising Tuscany, the one worth discovering when you decide to go beyond the best-known places.
